Asake’s Ex-Manager Stevenator Explains Why He Stepped Down.

Stevenator says Asake’s fast rise and family demands led to their split

Stephen Nana, popularly known as Stevenator, who managed Nigerian singer Asake from 2022 to 2024, has opened up on why he parted ways with the fast-rising star. In a candid interview circulating on social media, Stevenator revealed that Asake’s rapid success made it impossible for him to keep up, especially as he struggled to balance his work with family life.

Stevenator explained that his journey into music management began when Olamide, the boss of YBNL record label and his longtime friend, reached out to him about managing Asake. He admitted he had no prior experience in artist management, but trusted Olamide’s judgment and took on the challenge.

“Olamide called me one day and told me that he had an artiste he would want me to manage. And that was the first time I’m going into management. I don’t know anything about the job. I have been friends with Olamide for over 20 years,” Stevenator said.

Despite not knowing Asake or his music at the start, Stevenator quickly found himself swept up in the whirlwind of Asake’s career. The singer’s popularity soared so fast that there was little time to learn on the job. The demands of constant travel and back-to-back engagements took a toll on Stevenator’s personal life, especially his relationship with his two young sons.

He shared how being away from home for months at a time meant missing out on important family moments. At one point, his second son barely recognized him when they reunited in London. This, Stevenator said, was a turning point that made him realize he needed to prioritize his family.

“Asake became way too big that I have to be following him everywhere he goes. So, I’m now a family man, and I love my wife,” he added, explaining that stepping down was the best decision for both his family and his own well-being.

Stevenator also expressed deep appreciation to Olamide for giving him the opportunity to manage Asake, describing it as a valuable experience despite the challenges.

Conclusion:
Stevenator’s story highlights the pressures that come with managing a superstar and the importance of balancing career with family. His decision to step down shows that sometimes, choosing family is the ultimate success.
