Antony’s Revenge Mission as Real Betis Gives Brazilian Star New Life After Manchester United StrugglesPellegrini Says Antony’s Desire to Prove Himself Has Transformed Betis Ahead of Big UEFA Conference League Final Against Chelsea.
Antony, the Brazilian winger who struggled at Manchester United, is now enjoying a fresh start at Real Betis.
Coach Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that
“Antony came to Spain with a point to prove”
after his difficult spell in England. The 25-year-old joined Betis on loan in January and has been in top form, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in just 25 matches.
Antony’s time at Manchester United was tough. He moved from Ajax for a huge fee of “£81.3 million”, making him the club’s second-most expensive signing ever. But things didn’t go as planned, and Antony managed just one goal for United this season before heading to Spain.

Speaking to TNT Sports Brazil, Antony said,
“I told my brother that I couldn’t take it any more.” He admitted that he was so down that he went “days without eating.”
Pellegrini explained,
“I spoke with him before he came to Betis. He told me that he was not playing because he was not happy. Also, he wanted revenge.” The coach added, “Here in Betis, I think that he did it in the way we know that he can.” Pellegrini praised Antony’s attitude and said, “Antony is a very good player. I am absolutely sure that this is a huge time he had in Betis to continue improving his career.”
Betis will face Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League final, and Pellegrini is confident.
He said, “We don’t believe it is David and Goliath. I think tomorrow we will have exactly the same opportunity to win the match.”
The coach also shared that he had told Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, “I saw us in Poland in the final,” and was happy to see that prediction come true.
Now, with Antony back to his best, Betis fans are hoping he can help the team make history. The Brazilian’s “revenge mission” has become a big story, showing how determination and a change of environment can bring out the best in a player.
