Afrobeats superstar Davido has left fans in shock with the revelation that journalism could have been his career path if he hadn’t pursued music. The singer, known for his hit songs and global success, made this surprising confession during a recent interview on Beat 96.1FM, where he discussed the challenges of promoting his latest album and his unexpected love for media work.

During the interview, Davido explained that although album promotion can be a strenuous task, he genuinely enjoys the process.

“I’ve been doing crazy promo for my album – not easy. I don’t have to do promo but I like it. like conversing and all,” the artist said, revealing his passion for engaging with the media.

He also shared his educational background in business management and marketing, which he believes has made him a natural communicator. “If I had a podcast, I’d definitely talk for 3 or 4 days,” he joked, further emphasizing his enjoyment of conversations and his drive to keep people informed.

However, the most shocking moment of the interview came when Davido disclosed that if music hadn’t been his calling, he would have ventured into journalism.

“If I wasn’t doing music, I will definitely be in like journalism,” he said.

For Davido, communication and information sharing are just as much a part of his artistry as his music. “It’s part of being an artiste, to me. I could talk and talk but some people don’t like to talk. When people meet me, I like to have conversations and I’d like to know things,” he added.

“If you see me at home, I’m always researching something. I watch the news a lot—when I wake up, I’d have CNN on the television downstairs,” he said, indicating his deep curiosity and love for learning.
