King Charles Sends Heartfelt Message to Ex-US President Biden After Cancer Diagnosis

British Monarch Reaches Out as Both Leaders Battle Cancer

The King of England, King Charles III, has sent a personal message to former United States President, Joe Biden, after news broke that Biden is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

former United States President, Joe Biden.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Monday that the King, who is also receiving treatment for his own cancer, reached out to Biden over the weekend to wish him well. According to reports, King Charles’ message was private and full of encouragement.

Biden, who is 82 years old, was diagnosed last Friday with a Gleason score of nine, which doctors say means the cancer is very aggressive.

However, Biden’s doctors also said,

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”

It was also revealed that the cancer has already spread to Biden’s bones, but doctors are hopeful because it can still be treated with hormone therapy.

On Monday, Biden took to social media for the first time since the announcement, thanking people for their prayers and support. He wrote,

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

King Charles and Biden have met several times in the past. Biden visited the UK for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022 and also met with Charles, who was then the Prince of Wales, during the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow in 2021. In July 2023, Biden had tea with the King at Windsor Castle. The palace described their meeting as “extremely cordial.”

Earlier this year, when King Charles announced his own cancer diagnosis, Biden said, “I’m concerned about him. Just heard about his diagnosis. I’ll be talking to him, God willing.” He also posted online, “Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship takes hope and absolute courage.”

Last week, King Charles told a former cancer patient during a visit to Bradford, “I hope to be on the better side of my treatment soon.”

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The Gleason score is used to judge how serious the cancer is, and a higher score means the cancer is more aggressive.

In summary, both King Charles and former President Biden are currently fighting cancer. Their messages to each other show the importance of support and encouragement during tough times.
