Delta Rep Ngozi Okolie Leaves Labour Party and Joins APC.

Okolie says joining APC will help his people get more benefits.

A member of the House of Representatives from Delta State, Ngozi Okolie, has left the Labour Party and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). Okolie represents the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. He became well-known after he won the 2023 election, defeating Ndudi Elumelu of the PDP.

Okolie announced his decision in Asaba, the Delta State capital. He said he left the Labour Party because there are too many problems in the party that have not been solved. He explained that the party is not organised and this makes it hard for him to work well for his people.

He said,

“To be honest, I think that the Labour Party for now is very disorganised. We don’t have any headway, no directions and the lingering problem that is actually drawing us back. So, staying in a party that is not organised would actually not make me progress in the National Assembly.

Okolie also said that many other politicians are leaving their parties to join the APC. He believes that joining the APC will help him bring more projects and development to his community. He talked to traditional rulers, some people in his constituency, and even the governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, before making his decision.

He explained, “A lot of people are resigning from their party and moving to APC and I, today, decided to resign from the Labour Party. I am no longer a member of the Labour Party. I am moving to the APC and you know the traditional rulers in Delta have endorsed the president. The state governor has moved to the APC. The PDP has moved to the APC but I think it would be to the advantage of my constituency to actually join them there too.”

Okolie admitted that not everyone agreed with his decision, but he felt it was the best choice for his people. He said he wants to use the remaining two years of his time in the National Assembly to help his constituency by being in a party that is in power.

Many people think more politicians in Delta State and other parts of Nigeria will also join the APC. Okolie’s move shows that he wants to do what is best for his community and bring more opportunities to his people.

He hopes that with the support of the ruling party, he can bring more progress to Aniocha/Oshimili and make a real difference in the lives of his constituents.
