Alternative Bank Launches Gold Rewards for Customers Through Digital Banking

The Alternative Bank introduces a new reward system where customers can earn real gold by using its mobile banking app.

The Alternative Bank has launched a new campaign to reward customers with real gold for using its mobile banking platform, Altbank.

The campaign, called Altbank Gold Rewards, aims to encourage more people to use the bank’s app while offering them tokenized goldsmall, digital units of real gold—as rewards for everyday banking transactions.

their aims is to encourage more people to use the bank’s app while offering them tokenized gold as rewards for everyday banking transactions.

Running until the end of 2025, the campaign rewards users with one gold token, which is equal to 25 micrograms of gold for every interbank transfer made through the app. These tokens are stored in the user’s in-app wallet and can be changed into naira based on the current market price of gold.

In a market filled with airtime giveaways, cashback, and discounts, the Altbank Gold Rewards program stands out by offering real gold. The bank hopes to attract more digitally savvy customers looking for real value in their banking experience.

Mohammed Yunusa, Director of Digital Business and Innovations at The Alternative Bank, said:

This is not just another loyalty program. We are giving real value to our customers with every transfer they make.”

Besides earning gold, the Altbank app also offers other features like sending money, paying bills, buying airtime and data, and getting both virtual and physical debit cards. New customers can also receive interest-free loans of up to N500,000 and free Takaful insurance that covers gadgets, cars, and medical costs.

Once users download the Altbank app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, they can start earning gold tokens immediately for every interbank transfer they make.

The introduction of Altbank Gold Rewards brings a new twist to Nigeria’s digital banking scene. Since gold is often seen as a safe investment against inflation and economic instability, customers may see their gold tokens as a way to save money for the future.

The Alternative Bank, which started as a non-interest banking service in 2014 and became a full bank in 2023, remains committed to providing financial services based on Islamic finance principles. With programs like Altbank Gold Rewards, the bank continues to offer unique and valuable banking options to Nigerians.
